10-10-05 - Beat the Frog World Series Heat 3

Heat 3 of the competition was the best yet.  Another packed Frog, but this time with a crowd that really knew their comedy and were really up for it.  A fantastic atmosphere from start to finish and two very worthy winners.

Jo Dakin opens the show in the warm up slot and the crowd didn't take to all of her weird and wonderful material. John Cooper had a very strong start and then moved onto a true story, that needs work, but shows a lot of promise and the crowd were lovely and followed him all the way with it.
Dan explains the rules and dishes out the green cards. Gary Skipper opens the show strongly, but soon faded.  - 2:30
Andy Hobo fares little better. - 3:05 Damion Larkin steps up and shows exactly how it's done.  A ripping set from Damion and he easily Beat the Frog.
Act of the night for me, Robin Cousins. Some inspired material delivered brilliantly. Can't wait to see more of him. - Beat the Frog. Beat the Frog regular Andy Watson continue in the fine form he's shown recently and removes the roof. - Beat the Frog.
Susan Hanks is another act that has improved so much in the last six months. Better material, much better delivery and she quite rightly made the five. Beat the Frog debutant John Robins travelled all the way from Bristol to wow the crowd with and intriguing, and slightly mucky story.  A very different, but brilliant stage presence meant the laughs were thick and fast and he sailed through the five minutes.
Final act of the night Mike Belgrave. Mike didn't get as good a reaction as Susan, John, Andy and Robin, but it was nevertheless a solid job and he deserved his place in the clap off. The line up....
Dan makes plans for later... And two very worthy winners - Andy Watson and Robin Cousins.
Remember, the final is coming up and to make sure you get in, come to the final heat next week (17th) and pick up your invites!
